Wonderful overall experience at Mercure Sherwood - beautiful decor/architecture made for a lovely atmosphere. From the mild green on the brickwork in the dining area, to the embroidery "defaced" old portraits on the way to reception, little details really added to hoe visually pleasing it all was. Breakfast was delicious (served from 6:30am to 10am Mon-Fri) and came in generous servings. John and Simran, who were working on our stay, were very smooth and helpful. It made for a seemingly seamless operation, which made my morning feel easier. Also, they were both very helpful in different ways - love a bit of pro-activeness! Would highly recommend (especially given the especially nice location and amenities)!

This hotel was very clean and had very friendly staff. Upon entering the hotel, I wanted to drop off my bags as I had a business meeting in 3 hours time; the lovely receptionist told me that I may be able to check in for free. She found a room available at 11am which meant that I could leave my bags in my room and get some rest before I headed to the meeting; this saved me a lot of time. I didn’t manage to use the leisure facilities, but I’m sure they were lovely. The breakfast was absolutely delicious. I couldn’t have the meat options, but the hash browns were perfectly crispy and the mushrooms were huge. Baked beans were of high quality (Branstons or Heinz). Staff were also really friendly. 8/10

Hotel staff went above and beyond to assist us given the situation of the police line which had surrounded our first night's stay and prevented us from checking in. The phoned to let us know when the police line finally got removed (too late for us to check in), but ensured we were well catered for when we could check in the next day. They kept us fully informed and also gave us complimentary drinks to make up for the inconvenience of something that was out of their own control. The staff acted very professionally and had everything in hand, even though this was something beyond their control.

Friendly staff especially the waiter on breakfast duty who gave us a few tips on places to visit and went to the trouble of finding a book for us to read on local sites to visit. Breakfast was good, plenty of choices. We didn't have evening meal at the hotel but chose the pub across the road as we thought the hoyel menu a little expensive. The only problem we had was being able to hear conversations from people in the next room and the boom boom bass of rap music but it stopped at 9pm so not a great problem. We didn't use the spa as my partner was unwell. I would recommend the Mecure Sherwood

Staff were helpful, cheerful and efficient. Particularly the lovely gent we met at breakfast time, John couldn’t do enough for everyone, nothing was too much trouble, he is a real asset to the hotel! Masses of variety for breakfast, couldn’t fault it. Great hotel, whether for leisure or business.
